Design 8 is specifically made for furniture and outdoor equipment that has a rectangular top but a lower front height and higher back height, creating a sloping face. This shape is ideal when a normal rectangular cover would look loose, baggy or would puddle water on top.

How to measure a tapered rectangular shape (Design 8)
Measure in centimetres along the diagram lines:
- (1) Height – the full height at the tallest side (back).
- (2) Width – left-to-right across the top.
- (3) Depth – front-to-back across the top surface.
- (4) Front Height – the lower height at the front where the slope ends.
We add a small tailoring allowance to help the cover slide on easily without being overly tight.

Tie-down options
Choose a securing method based on wind exposure and how often you access the unit:
- No tie-downs – for sheltered areas or very heavy equipment.
- Elasticated hem with cord lock – cinches the base for a neat grip.
- Grommets & cord – reinforced eyelets to tie to anchor points.
- Webbing straps with buckles – passes under the item for maximum stability.

How the tie-down options work
Choose the tie-down style that best suits your garden and wind exposure. All options are sewn to order on your cover.
- No tie-downs – simple drop-over cover, ideal for sheltered patios.
- Elasticated hem + cord lock – shock cord sewn into the base with a toggle to cinch tight.
- Grommets + cord – reinforced metal eyelets around the base with cord to tie to legs or anchors.
- Straps & buckles – webbing straps run under key points of the cover.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the right template for my tapered box or equipment?
Design 8 is intended for items with a rectangular top and a sloping front, where the back height is taller than the front. If your unit is the same height all round, our standard rectangular cover design will usually be a better fit.
Are the covers fully waterproof?
Both fabric tiers are designed for outdoor use. Tier 1 (PVL 600D) is waterproof for everyday garden use. Tier 2 (P500UV) adds an extra PU + UV coating for maximum water resistance and long-term exposure.
What if my measurements are a bit wrong?
We add a small tailoring allowance to help the cover slip on easily. If you realise you’ve measured incorrectly, contact us as soon as possible with your order number – if production hasn’t started, we can usually update the sizes.
Can you add cut-outs or zips?
In many cases, yes. We can add simple cut-outs, flaps, vents or access zips. Please upload a clear photo and describe what you need in the notes – we’ll confirm what’s possible and if there’s any extra cost before we sew your cover.
How do I clean the cover?
Brush off loose dirt regularly, then sponge clean with mild soapy water and rinse. Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing, as these can damage the waterproof coatings over time. Always allow the cover to dry fully before storing.
