All dimensions in cm. Measure along the dashed lines in the diagram – always at the widest and deepest points of the curve.

How to measure a curved / kidney shape (quick guide)

  1. Back height (1) – from ground up to the highest point at the back.
  2. Back depth (2) – from the very back of the furniture to the furthest front point.
  3. Back width curved (3) – follow the back curve from left to right.
  4. Front height (4) – from ground to the highest front edge.
  5. Inner width curved (5) – inside curve from left to right (seat side).
  6. Front depth (6) – depth of the front straight section.
  7. Front width straight (7) – straight width across the front edge.

Tip: include arms, rolled edges and any overhangs. We add a small tailoring allowance so your cover slides over the curved shape without being baggy.

Made-to-measure curved & kidney-shaped outdoor covers

black L outside cover for L shaped object in garden or patio setting

Looking for a neat, one-piece cover for your curved or kidney-shaped seating? This Custom Curved / Kidney-Shaped Outdoor Furniture Cover – Design 12 is patterned specifically for benches and sofas with a sweeping front curve or “kidney” layout. You give us the key dimensions, and we sew a waterproof, UV-resistant cover to match your exact shape.

Whether you have a built-in rendered bench, a feature curved sofa, or a bespoke stone seating area, this design helps you protect it cleanly without loads of loose fabric or awkward corners.

Why choose a custom curved cover?

  • Tailored to your dimensions – we work from your measurements for a neat, close fit.
  • Designed for curved layouts – ideal for kidney-shaped benches, semi-circular sofas and built-in seating.
  • Waterproof & UV-resistant – choose from two outdoor-grade fabric tiers to suit your garden and budget.
  • Neat finish around the curve – less flapping fabric and fewer puddle points than a square “one-size” cover.
  • UK-based support – ask us to check your sketch or photo before you order.

How the Design 12 curved layout works

The Design 12 pattern is built around the measurements you enter on the diagram:

  • Back height – from the ground to the highest point at the back of the seat.
  • Back depth – from the very back to the furthest point at the front.
  • Back width (curved) – following the curved back from left to right.
  • Front height – from the ground up to the front edge.
  • Inner width (curved) – along the inside curve where you sit.
  • Front depth & front width – to define the straight front section of the seat.

Always measure in centimetres along the dashed lines shown on the diagram and include any arms, coping stones, rolled edges or overhangs. We then build in a small tailoring allowance so the cover slides on and off without being baggy.

Outdoor fabrics – choose your protection level

You can choose between two fabric tiers depending on how and where you use your curved seating:

  • Tier 1 – PVL 600D vinyl-coated polyester
A tough, waterproof fabric that’s ideal for everyday garden use. Great value for curved benches and sofas that are mostly used spring–autumn or sit in more sheltered spots.
  • Tier 2 – P500UV 500D UV-treated polyester
A premium, lighter-handling fabric with PU + UV coating for maximum weather and sun resistance. Best if your curved seating stays outside all year, in south-facing or exposed areas, or near the coast.

Both fabrics are designed for outdoor use and are suitable for rain, wind and UV. Tier 2 simply offers the strongest long-term performance for year-round, high-exposure situations.

Tie-down options for windy gardens

Curved furniture often sits in exposed places, so securing the cover properly makes a big difference. You can upgrade from a simple drop-over cover to:

  • Elasticated hem with cord lock – a shock cord around the base that you can cinch tight around the curve.
  • Grommets & cord – metal eyelets spaced around the bottom edge so you can tie the cover to legs or fixed points.
  • Webbing straps with buckles – straps that pass under key sections of the seating with quick-release buckles.

These add-ons sit on top of the fabric cost and are sewn in when we make your cover.

Typical uses for Design 12 curved covers

  • Curved or kidney-shaped garden sofas and lounge sets.
  • Built-in rendered or tiled seating along a curved wall.
  • Feature stone, brick or concrete benches around fire pits.
  • Curved seating in roof terraces, courtyards and outdoor kitchens.

How to order your curved cover

  1. Upload a clear photo of your curved seating (optional but recommended).
  2. Measure each line shown on the sizing diagram in centimetres and enter your dimensions.
  3. Choose your fabric tier, colour and tie-down option.
  4. Add any notes about cut-outs, zips or vents in the text box.
  5. Add to basket – your estimated price will update automatically from your measurements.

We usually sew and dispatch curved covers within 3–7 working days, with UK delivery taking around 1–3 working days after dispatch. If you have a deadline or a very complex layout, please contact us first and we’ll confirm what’s possible.

Care & maintenance

Brush off loose dirt regularly, then sponge clean with mild soapy water and rinse. Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing, as these can reduce the effectiveness of the waterproof coatings. Always allow the cover to dry fully before folding and storing.

Need help? If you’re not sure how to measure your curved or kidney-shaped seating, send us a photo and a quick sketch. Our UK team will advise the best way to measure and which fabric tier will suit your garden.

How the tie-down options work

Choose the tie-down style that best suits your garden and wind exposure. All options are sewn to order on your cover.

  • No tie-downs – simple drop-over cover, ideal for heavy or built-in seating.
  • Elasticated hem + cord lock – shock cord sewn into the base with a toggle to cinch tight.
  • Grommets + cord – reinforced metal eyelets around the base with cord to tie to legs or anchors.
  • Straps & buckles – webbing straps run under key points of the curve.

You can see close-up photos of each option above in the product gallery.

Frequently asked questions

Can you cover very tight or complex curves?

Yes. The Design 12 layout is made for curved and kidney-shaped seating. As long as we have clear measurements and a photo, we can usually achieve a neat, close fit.

Are the fabrics fully waterproof?

Both fabric tiers are designed for outdoor use. Tier 1 (PVL 600D) is waterproof for everyday garden use. Tier 2 (P500UV) adds an extra PU + UV coating for maximum water resistance and long-term exposure.

What if my measurements are a bit wrong?

We add a small tailoring allowance to help the cover slip on easily. If you realise you’ve measured incorrectly, contact us as soon as possible with your order number – if production hasn’t started, we can usually update the sizes.

Can you add cut-outs or zips?

In many cases, yes. We can add simple cut-outs, flaps, vents or access zips. Please upload a clear photo and describe what you need in the notes – we’ll confirm what’s possible and if there’s any extra cost before we sew your cover.

How do I clean the cover?

Brush off loose dirt regularly, then sponge clean with mild soapy water and rinse. Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing, as these can damage the waterproof coatings over time. Always allow the cover to dry fully before storing.
